Weight versus capacity
Under 20 lb, a RIVER 2 class station (500–800 Wh) runs lights, phones, drones and a satellite messenger for a couple of people all weekend. Bring a DELTA 2 Max if a 12 V fridge or a bigger group is coming.
Budget for the fridge
A 12 V compressor fridge averages 30–60 W, so plan on roughly 1 kWh a day. That is the load that decides your station size and whether you need solar.
Pick a panel you will actually deploy
A 100–220 W folding panel is the sweet spot for camp: quick to set up, easy to angle at the sun, and enough to keep a mid-size station topped off between drives.

For phones, lights, camera batteries and a satellite messenger, 250–500 Wh is plenty. Add a 12 V fridge and you want 700 Wh or more, or a panel to refill during the day. A week off-grid with a fridge calls for 1–2 kWh plus 100–220 W of solar.
In good sun a 100–110 W folding panel makes roughly 400–600 Wh a day — enough to cover phones, lights and a messenger and to offset most of a fridge. If the fridge is the main load, step up to a 160–220 W panel.
Yes. The 12 V car outlet charges slowly (around 100 W); an alternator charger is several times faster and refills a mid-size station on a long drive. Solar at camp and driving between sites usually keeps a station full for the whole trip.
Battery stations make no noise or exhaust, so campground generator hours and quiet rules do not apply to them the way they do to gas generators. They are also the reason you can run a fridge at 2 a.m. without waking the site next door.
