The network
Why Certus for land based broadband
Iridium Certus runs on the Iridium NEXT constellation, completed in January 2019, and delivers global enterprise grade broadband where an always available connection matters more than raw speed. Initial speeds run between 300 Kbps and 700 Kbps, with the network built out toward higher throughput over time. The same terminal handles data and voice, and it keeps working at latitudes where geostationary services fade out.

- A one-time activation fee applies to every new line; it is shown on the plan page.
- The service runs on a 12-month contract billed monthly.
- Usage beyond the included data allowance is billed and quoted separately rather than cutting the connection off mid-job.
- Voice calls are billed at the per-minute rate shown on the plan page.
- Terminal installation and commissioning is quick, typically completed within a couple of hours.

A Certus Land plan needs an Iridium Certus land terminal. The Thales MissionLINK and MissionLink 200 are the land-mobile terminals built for this service, combining data and voice in one unit for vehicles and fixed sites. A plan from this page goes live on either.
