Iridium Accessories for the 9555, 9575 Extreme, 9505A and GO
Spare batteries, chargers, external antennas, docks and cases, all matched to the Iridium handset you own. Check the model on the back of your phone first; the parts are not interchangeable.
What Iridium handset owners need first
Four Iridium devices account for nearly every accessory question we get: the 9555, the 9575 Extreme and Extreme PTT, the older 9505A, and the Iridium GO hotspot. Each has its own battery, its own charger connector and its own antenna adapter. The order to buy in is the same for all of them: a spare battery, a way to charge away from the wall, an external antenna for the vehicle or boat, and a case.
The 9555 is rated for 4 hours of talk and 30 hours of standby on its standard battery, and its kit ships with a magnetic antenna and the TNC antenna adapter. The 9575 Extreme adds IP65 and MIL-STD 810F ratings and an SOS button, and its BAT31001 battery reaches 90 percent in about 3 hours when charged in the handset at room temperature. The Iridium GO gives 5.5 hours of talk and 15.5 hours of standby and is IP65 rated, but it is a voice, text and app device, not satellite internet.
Batteries and chargers
Cold weather and long signal searches drain a satellite battery faster than the rated figures suggest. Carry a spare for your exact model and a charger that works where you are going.
External antennas, adapters and cables
Any Iridium handset used inside a vehicle, wheelhouse or building needs an antenna outside with a clear view of the whole sky. Buy the adapter for your model, then the antenna, then the cable length you need.
Docking stations for the 9555, 9575 Extreme and 9505A
A dock turns the handset into a fixed phone with charging, an external antenna port and, on the higher tiers, a telephone line and a privacy handset. Take the phone out and it is portable again.
Iridium GO accessories and the wall mount
There is no dock for the GO. The wall mount bracket kit, part WBKT1301, fixes it to a bulkhead or cabin wall with a quarter inch screw, the antenna adapter connects an external antenna, and the 5 metre outdoor USB cable is what Iridium recommends for continuous power. The GO handles calls, texts and specific apps; it is not satellite internet.
Holsters, cases and protection
Iridium handsets are IP65 rated: dust tight and jet resistant, not submersible. A holster for daily carry and a hard case for the full kit keep one working for years.
Charging on the move: vehicle, USB, solar and multi bay
The Iridium DC auto charger runs a 9555 or 9575 from a 12 V socket. The AC travel charger and the international plug kit handle wall outlets abroad. For the GO, the GO AC charger with international adapters and the GO vehicle charger adapter do the same job.
Off grid, the Deluxe Iridium Solar Kit combines a 30,000 mAh solar battery pack with a 5 V 2.1 A USB output, a USB cable and a T5000 watertight hard case with pluck foam. It charges the 9505A, 9555, 9575 and PTT handsets. For a laptop or a terminal, use a power station from Off-Grid Power instead.
Teams that rotate handsets should look at the 9555 single bay and four bay chargers. The four bay unit conditions and rapid charges standard and high capacity 9555 batteries, switches to maintenance mode when full, and runs from AC or 12 V DC.
How to choose an Iridium external antenna
Three questions settle it: which handset, how far the cable runs, and whether the antenna stays put.

Match the adapter to the handset
The 9555 uses a TNC female antenna adapter, part H2AA0802, included in the phone kit and sold separately if lost. The 9505 and 9505A use a different adapter. The Iridium GO uses a 15 cm TS9 to TNC female adapter cable. The 9575 Extreme has its own antenna and USB power adapter. Get this piece right and every Iridium antenna with a TNC connector will fit.

Pick magnetic or fixed
A magnetic mount is for vehicles you do not want to drill. The 5 metre Iridium magnetic antenna needs a flat steel surface to grip, weighs 405 g, and is rated from minus 40 to plus 70 degrees Celsius. Fixed screw mount, low profile and mast antennas are for permanent installs on boats, buildings and fleet vehicles.

Check the cable length
Passive antennas are limited to roughly 30 metres of coax; the 30 metre Iridium cable kit is the longest passive run we sell. Beyond that, the Iridium active antenna has an amplifier in its base and supports preset cable lengths from 27 to 160 metres. Do not shorten a supplied active antenna cable; cutting it voids the warranty. The GO exec has its own 5 metre limit, extended with the GO exec LITE antenna kit and a datahub over Ethernet.

Add GPS if the device needs it
The 9575 Extreme uses GPS for its SOS and tracking features. The Iridium and GPS magnetic antenna and the low profile Iridium and GPS antenna carry both signals so those features work from inside a vehicle. A plain Iridium antenna will make calls but will not feed the phone a GPS fix.

What to order with an Iridium handset
The kit we would put together for a new 9555 or 9575 Extreme owner who drives to where they use it.
A spare battery for the exact model: 9555 high capacity, 9575 Extreme standard or high capacity, or the GO battery.
The DC auto charger, unless your kit already includes one.

Which battery fits my Iridium phone?
The 9555 takes the 9555 battery or the 9555 high capacity extra battery. The 9575 Extreme and Extreme PTT take the BAT31001 standard battery or the 9575 high capacity battery. The 9505A takes its own Li-ion battery, and the Iridium GO has a GO battery. None of these are interchangeable, so check the model on the label under the battery before ordering.
Does the Iridium 9555 come with an external antenna?
Yes. The standard 9555 package on satmodo.com includes a magnet mount antenna and the antenna adapter, along with AC and DC chargers, a headset and a leather case. If you have lost either piece, the 9555 antenna adapter and the 5 metre magnetic antenna are sold separately on this page.
How long can the antenna cable be on an Iridium phone?
About 30 metres with a passive antenna, which is the longest passive cable kit we sell. Past that you need the Iridium active antenna, which has an amplifier in its base and runs on preset cable lengths from 27 to 160 metres. Is there a docking station for the Iridium GO?
No. The GO uses the wall mount bracket kit instead, which lets you fix the unit to a wall or bulkhead and remove it with the quarter inch attachment screw. Combine it with the GO antenna adapter, an external antenna and the 5 metre outdoor USB cable for a fixed install.
What is the difference between the 9575 Extreme LiteDOCK and the BagDock?
The LiteDOCK is a slim fixed dock with SMA antenna connectors, USB, charging and a hands free jack, meant to be mounted in a vehicle, vessel or office. The BagDock is a padded canvas first responder bag containing a dock, a 3 metre magnetic Iridium and GPS antenna, a fist microphone and speaker, and it extends handset run time by 12 to 19 hours from AC, DC or a vehicle auxiliary port.
Can the Iridium 9555 dock connect to a normal desk phone?
Yes, the 9555 docking station with POTS and USB has an RJ11 port for an analog phone, a multi handset cordless system or a PBX, so the office phone rings when the satellite phone does. It also has a USB data port, Bluetooth, an audible ringer, and accepts 9 to 36 V DC with the AC adapter and DC vehicle adapter included.
Can I charge an Iridium phone from solar?
Yes. The 9505A, 9555, 9575 and PTT handsets charge from a 5 V USB source, and the Deluxe Iridium Solar Kit supplies a 30,000 mAh solar battery pack with 5 V 2.1 A output, a USB cable and a T5000 hard case. It will not run a terminal or a laptop for long; for that, use a power station from Off-Grid Power.
Is the Iridium GO satellite internet?
No. The Iridium GO provides voice calls, SMS and data for specific apps such as weather and email through its Wi-Fi hotspot. It will not load a web page or stream video. For satellite internet, see the Satellite Internet and Starlink sections.
