Product Description

Most folding panels need a power station to be useful. This one does not — a 15 W USB-C port is built into the panel itself, so a phone, a satellite messenger or a headlamp charges straight from the sun. At 3.1 pounds folded to roughly laptop size, it is the panel you bring rather than the one you mean to bring.

What 45 watts is good for

Wattage ratings describe perfect noon sun. In practice, count on four to six productive hours a day in summer, which puts this panel at roughly 180–270 Wh — several phone charges, a satellite phone topped up, a camera battery or two, and headroom left over. It will trickle into a small power station; it will not meaningfully fill a DELTA.

Who buys this one

Hikers and paddlers who carry a satellite messenger and want it charged without a battery pack. Basecamp users who want a second panel that any device can plug into. And anyone building a kit where weight is the constraint that matters most.

Getting the most out of it

Angle it at the sun and re-aim it once or twice through the day — a twenty-degree error costs more output than dust does. Wipe the surface each morning. And keep the panel itself out of deep shade even if the device is in your pack: one shaded cell drags the whole panel down.

Where people use it

Common questions about this panel

Yes — that is what the USB-C port is for. It puts out up to 15 W, enough to charge a phone, a satellite messenger or a headlamp straight from the sun with no battery in between. The DC5521 output is the faster path when you are feeding a power station or power bank.

Slowly. 45 W into a 1,024 Wh battery is a long day's work even in perfect sun. This panel is sized for power banks and small stations; for a DELTA you want 160 W or more.

Plan on four to six good hours in summer, so roughly 180–270 Wh — enough to refill a phone several times over, top up a satellite phone and still have headroom. On an overcast day expect a fraction of that.

It handles rain and dew, but it is not built to be submerged or left out through a storm. Fold it up when the weather turns; the folded case is what protects the cells.

The USB-C port charges anything that takes USB-C. The DC5521 output pairs with EcoFlow power banks and small stations directly, and an MC4 adapter opens it up to most other brands — check the input voltage range on your device first.

3.1 pounds, and it folds to roughly the footprint of a laptop. That is light enough to strap to a pack for a basecamp trip, though for long-distance hiking most people still prefer a power bank alone.

Can I buy a satellite phone?
Yes you can buy satellite phones, we offer the best satellite communication options. Including Iridium, Globalstar, and Inmarsat. Satmodo offers satellite phones that work anywhere in the world.
Do I need to rent or purchase a satellite phone?
If you are needing a satellite phone more than 6 weeks out of a year we always suggest purchasing. This will save you money in the long run. If you are just doing a short camping, hiking and hunting, etc. We recommend renting the satellite phone.
Why do people need satellite phones?
