Not necessarily. EcoFlow's manual also shows a single-unit setup that uses just a 30-amp transfer switch on its own, without this hub involved at all. The 50 Amp Hub specifically exists for combining two DELTA Pro Ultra units into one shared backup feed.

The hub itself connects into a larger whole-home backup system alongside a transfer switch and your main panel. Any wiring into your home's electrical panel should go through a licensed electrician, even where the hub's own connections look straightforward to make.
